This striking 3-storey building linked the two existing hospital buildings at different levels, creating new X-ray, Dental, Physio and OPD facilities. Apart from being a very tight site, unforeseen ground conditions, in the form of running sand, provided further challenges to the need to underpin Colwyn Foulkes' original building and to build a retaining wall, to stabilise the car park.

The superstructure consisted of in-situ concrete slabs poured onto loadbearing blockwork walls, utilising GKN's aluminium kwikshore falsework. Services were successfully routed through the new and existing buildings, with the contract on time and to budget. We believe this job exemplifies our ethos of teamwork.
